About
“It was me…I let the dogs out!”
My name is Kayla a.k.a. “Tattoo Kayla” and I’ve been known by many artist personas throughout my creative career, most recently “STRAY DOG” or “straydoggiestyle”.
I’m a full-time licensed tattooer, award-winning illustrator, and lettering artist with over a decade of professional design experience. I was classically trained in both traditional sign painting and mural arts and you can find elements of this carried throughout my work. My bold and vibrant illustration style reflects my lifetime love for tattooing; it lives on every surface.
My work has been featured in galleries, global brands, renowned publications, motion pictures, and festivals.
I strongly believe in the power of community and I love to speak at conferences and teach classes and workshops on my practice, and as a neurodivergent creator.
When I’m not creating, you can find me and my wife at our favorite karaoke spot or adventuring with our dog!
*A note for my commission-based custom work:
At this time, I’m currently only accepting illustrated and painted projects (with a relaxed timeline) on a case-by-case basis.
My tattoo books are always open HERE! :)
I WANT TO BOOK A TATTOO!
Step 1: Submit a tattoo inquiry via the form below. Provide as much information as possible. Ex.) Design inspo, tattoo size, location on body, style, color or shading.
Step 2: Confirm a date on the schedule for your appointment with me!
Step 3: Once our tattoo date is selected together, pay your deposit! The deposit will go towards the final cost of your tattoo and hold your slot. *Communication will ONLY be through the portal HERE (which will take you to my email) or on my instagram @straydoggiestyle. Anything else is a SCAM. Verify with me those two ways if you are unsure!
Step 4: Take a screenshot of your receipt and send it to me to confirm your appointment!
Feel free to message me with any questions! Appointment cancellation/rescheduling policies are listed below.
Artist Policy
All appointments require a $50 non-refundable deposit that will go towards the final cost of your tattoo and confirms your appointment. "No-call, No-Shows" and cancellations made less than 48 hours in advance will forfeit deposit and require a new deposit to reschedule. Unapplied deposits in the system will expire after one calendar year.
All correspondence with me will either be through instagram @ straydoggiestyle or this website portal ONLY. Contact me immediately through one of these methods if you are unsure about anything!
Please note: I do NOT do phone consultations. You are welcome to schedule an in-person consult at the shop or a virtual meeting online!
If you are running late, please inform me ASAP and not when your appointment time has already passed. Lateness of more than 30 minutes may require a reschedule. City traffic is bad. Plan your route in advance to avoid any hiccups! If you need to reschedule, please let me know at least 48 hours in advance and your deposit will be transferred to your new slot.
Prepare for your tattoo! Get plenty of rest the night before and stay hydrated. Avoid alcohol and excessive caffeine. Eat a good meal before your appointment. Make sure you are clean and showered that day. Wear comfortable clothes you can easily be tattooed in. Bring a snack/drink or anything you need to "lock in"'! Inform me of anything relevant that might affect your tattoo experience!
Due to the size of our shop, we ask that only people who are getting tattooed attend your appointment. If you need ADA accommodations for an additional guest for emotional support etc, please let me know so that I can make arrangements to avoid disrupting the other artists in our shop and ensuring the comfort of everyone in our space! Anyone acting in bad faith, or negatively impacting the tattoo experience of other guests and artists in the shop will be asked to leave. If you are being dropped off: we have a separate waiting area in our building lobby, as well as lots of interesting stores and restaurants nearby. We have a full parking lot and wheelchair access, if-needed!
